What is Myobase ?Myobase is a bilingual database (French/English) which provides access to bibliographic information updated daily in the field of myology and motor handicap. It is implemented by the AFM Library. What would you find in Myobase ?In Myobase, there are more than 26,000 references for selected biomedical literature from MEDLINE*, books, documents published by the AFM, theses, conference communications and "grey literature" from institutional agencies, scientific research groups and associations. Myobase contains publications of research laboratories supported by the AFM.References may include abstracts written in French by medical and scientific writers, and links to full-text content from PubMed and publisher web sites.Which fields does Myobase cover ? The references cover medical and scientific topics about neuromuscular disorders: clinical aspects, diagnosis, therapeutics, genetics and the latest news in biomedical research.People affected by neuromuscular diseases have to face disabilities, so Myobase helps professionals and families to find up-to date information about motor handicap (rehabilitation, social and legal issues).The AFM has a large network of psychologists, who help people affected by neuromuscular disorders and do research on the psychological aspects of rare genetic disorders, so you will find in Myobase all the publications concerning this field. The AFM is involved in research on stem cells, gene therapy, cell therapy. The French Law on Bioethics is being reconsidered, that is why Myobase is regularly updated with the new publications in this field.How to search information in Myobase ? You will find current information on its home page : www.myobase.org.You can search references with the basic and advanced search function or directly by author, journal name, keywords, specific themes&Keywords, which are very specialized in neuromuscular disorders, are put together in a list.
